Smoking Side Effects

Recommended Posts

I've noticed recently that there are a few recurring things that happen when I smoke hookah:

- My forehead feels somewhat tense like the blood vessels are constricting and I can feel the pulse all over my head easier (with my fingers).

- I get more sluggish and by the end of the session lose all motivation to clean my setup and whatnot.

- I can get jittery and aggitated if the peace and quiet isn't kept (I smoke mostly solo).

I'm assuming these are normal effects of nicotine being introduced to the body, I don't smoke NEARLY as much as some on the forum so I get buzzed by washed tobacco and Nak and Tang still hit me like a truck. At the very most I'll smoke like 5-7 times a week usually it's more like 4-5 since I lack the time to do otherwise.

Anyone else get these same effects? Go ahead and list how smoking seems to affect you...

i normally get tired but i dont get buzzed off washed and i only smoke 4-5 times a week.

i agree

i smoke once a day and don't get a buzzed from washed shisha. I get relaxed from washed shisha but no buzz. I usually don't have much motivation after smoking but i wouldn't say it makes me lazy. If I smoke nakhla and tang i get a buzz but they only last for about 5-6 minutes at the start of the session, then for the rest of the session i just stay relaxed.

Yep, I get that as well. But I wash it anyway. 4-5 times week seems about right for me, and so far i haven't had a nicotine buzz in a few months now, even with nakhla.

i definitely notice i move slower, and i will get a headrush if i stand up to quick, but i don't get really crazy buzzed, or turn into the hulk. as far as how you feel gnr, it sounds to me like a little bit of dehydration. i know my sessions go better if i have some tea or coffee or water with me.

hmmm, I'll make it a point to hydrate more during sessions, thanks for the advice

Duly noted, and yeah actually I haven't been hydrating enough in general lately especially since I've been excercising it off.

Water here I come.

sometimes after a solid session, or even during. i have to poop. not like a casual kind, but one of those OHMYGAWD types, like i'll explode if i dont. like...

okay i'll stop with that subject.

headaches come if i've been smoking too long, as well as getting sick.
i still get a buzz off washed, but i'm leveling up.

I feel like crap if I don't get my coals going real good or have too many sessions, or real long sessions. Most of my sessions are well over 2 hours and I'm taking monster hits sometimes.
Maybe using a little more moderation would've been a better new years rez than drink more Shinerbock???? Nah, what am I thinkin? pirate.png ARRRRR!!!!!
Carbon monoxide accumulates in your system. It does not release from the body very fast and because of that you can get sick over a course of days because of the level in your blood keeps building. That along with the effects of nicotine sound a little like your effects in the first post. This link may kinda whig ya out but it's a good read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_monoxide_poisoning

wow crazy! i thought i was the only one that felt that way. when i smoke solo i do get this jitteryness if its not as nice and calm as i imagined it. i think a lot of people get sluggish tho. blood and oxygen flow just feels restricted to me. ill get lightheaded and somewhat sore after smoking. i used to feel the headache you're describing however.

it's weird, i only felt like this when i was new to hookah and had this feeling in my head that "smoking is bad! you're doing a BAD thing" I know that sounds bizarre, but sometimes just that thought gave me this pulsing headache because i was slightly stressing about it. This also happened when i was stressed about something i had to do right after smoking, like work... Just try to relax and calm yourself down beforehand, more than you do already...

I tend to get very hungry and thirsty. Only once I got a headache (and I realized that I rushed to put the coals so they may have not been lit fully, since then I just keep patient and have never experienced a headache).

One time, I got horribly sluggish and tired from smoking. I felt like I had a huge dinner and had a few drinks. I didn't want to get up.

Relaxation is definitely another feeling I tend to enjoy which is great.

Also time travel... hours pass and I don't realize it.

I used to feel like that, mostly solo sessions. The worst that's happen to me was fainting, but I wasn't hydrated, and I had low-blood sugar, and smoked 4 bowls in 4 hours. Tangiers make me feel sluggish and low-blood sugar. But yeah we always make it a note to drink water when we smoke, and just keep a full belly.

I generally don't feels any negative side effects, with the accpetion of a bad case of CO poisoning one time. I have noticed that I've been more prone to getting sinus infections than i was when i didn't smoke... but then again I always get those at certain times of the year.
